Ray Riendeau
Ray is a highly sought-after bassist whose versatile style and dedication to the instrument has earned him world tours, major CD recording projects, and many movie and television soundtracks. His musical expertise and knowledge of the instrument also keeps him busy as a composer, clinician, and touring/recording artist. He has helped Fender Musical Instruments in the research and development of bass amps and basses. Some of Ray's involvement included work on the Sunn bass amps and the Fender series combo amps. Ray has also been a Fender clinician and made an instructional video for Fender as well. Ray has made several special performances at Bass Day - L.A., the National Guitar Summer Workshop, Bass Day - New York, NAMM, and the School of Bass.
Ray has released 4 solo recordings on his own label, Groove Theory Records, including All Funked Up, Groove Therapy, Enlightenment, and Arrhythmia. The music contained on these discs are bass tour-de-forces featuring Ray's amazing ability. By combining the distinct tonal and technological innovations of LightWave System's optical pickup system with his solo bass playing, Ray released Enlightenment, the very first project of its kind to fully demonstrate the capabilities of LightWave Systems revolutionary optical pickup technologies in an exclusively solo electric bass environment.
Ray is also recognized for his work with Rob Halford (Judas Priest). As a member of the band Halford, Ray recorded two studio projects, one live double disc, and toured around the world, most notably playing to a crowd of over 250,000 while co-headlining Brazil's "Rock in Rio" festival with Iron Maiden.
Ray has performed and recorded with a number of renowned guitarists such as Gary Hoey, Greg Koch, and Neil Zaza. While a recording/touring artist for Machines of Loving Grace, Ray's playing was featured in the movie soundtracks "The Crow," which sold over 1,000,000 copies, and "Hackers." As a session artist, Ray has appeared in commercial spots for Fox TV, MTV, United Artists, Disney, and other various recording projects.
